It is narrated from Abu Qalabah, who says: When the incident of the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) occurred, some preachers stood up in Ilya and gave some statements. The last to stand was a companion named Sayyiduna Marrah bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: If I had not heard a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have stood here. One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a tribulation and described it as being near (meaning, he wanted to say that it would appear very soon). Meanwhile, a man passed by, wrapped in a cloth. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards him and said: In those days, he and his companions will be upon the truth. I went ahead, grabbed that man's shoulders, turned his face towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you mean this man? He said: Yes. Thus, that was Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).
