It is narrated from Jubair bin Nafeer, he says: After the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), we were in an army with Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Ka’b bin Murrah Bahzi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said: If I had not heard one thing from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I would not have stood here. When Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard the name of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he made the people sit down. He said: Once we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by there. At that time, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the future, a great tribulation will arise from the footsteps of this man; in those days, this person and his followers will be upon guidance. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Hawalah Azdi (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up from near the pulpit and said: Did you yourself hear this hadith? He said: Yes. Sayyiduna Ibn Hawalah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! I was also present in that gathering; if I had known that someone in this army would confirm me, I would have been the first to narrate this matter.
