Hadith 12243

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِتْنَةً فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ ”يُقْتَلُ فِيهَا هَذَا الْمُقَنَّعُ يَوْمَئِذٍ مَظْلُومًا“ قَالَ فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا هُوَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned a tribulation. During that time, a man passed by there. Upon seeing him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In those days, this man, who is passing by covered in a cloth, will be killed in a state of oppression. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When I went and saw, that man was Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him).
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This was the tribulation (fitnah) that appeared in the final days of the caliphate of Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (radi Allahu anhu), and its culmination was in the form of the oppressed martyrdom of Sayyiduna ‘Uthman (radi Allahu anhu). {اِنَّا لِلّٰہِ وَاِنَّا اِلَیْہِ رَاجِعُوْنَ۔}
