It is narrated from Abu Habibah that he entered the house in which Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was besieged, and he heard that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) was seeking permission from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) to say something. When he granted permission, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up, praised and glorified Allah Almighty, and then said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "After me, you will encounter tribulations and disagreements." A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Who will be ours at that time?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You must adhere to this trustworthy one and his companions." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was indicating towards Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) as he said this.
