Hadith 12205

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the previous nations, there were some people who used to receive inspiration from Allah; if there is any such person in my Ummah, it would be Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "inspiration" (ilham) is meant that Allah, the Exalted, inspires them with the truth and then grants them the ability to speak in accordance with it. This was a distinguishing characteristic of Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhu; on several occasions, whatever opinion he expressed, Allah, the Exalted, revealed Qur’an and decreed in accordance with it. A few examples of this will be mentioned in the following ahadith.
