It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, one day said to his companions: "Who among you has attended a funeral today?" Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Yes, I have." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Who among you has visited a sick person today?" Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Yes, I have." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Who among you has fasted today?" Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "Yes, I have." Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Paradise has become obligatory, indeed it has become obligatory."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Who among you is fasting today?” Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “I am.” He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Who among you has followed a funeral today?” Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “I have.” He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Who among you has fed a needy person today?” Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “I have.” He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Who among you has visited a sick person today?” Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “I have.” Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “These qualities are not combined in a person except that he will enter Paradise.”
The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Who has observed the fast today?” Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “Yes, I have.” He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Who has followed a funeral today (and performed its funeral prayer)?” Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “Yes, I have.” He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Who has fed a needy person today?” Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “Yes, I have.” He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Who has visited a sick person today?” Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: “Yes, I have.” Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Whoever these qualities are combined in, he will enter Paradise.” (Sahih Muslim: 1707)
