It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: After me, there will be rulers over you who will erase the Sunnahs, promote innovations, and delay the prayers from their prescribed times. Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! If I find those people, what is your command for me? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O son of Umm Abd! There is no obedience to one who disobeys Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has also imparted wisdoms and expediencies for acting upon this instruction of his. For example, if the rulers delay the prayers from their prescribed times, then one should perform the prayer at its proper time in a concealed manner. And if a person is present at the congregation of such rulers, he should join them with the intention of offering a supererogatory (nafl) prayer, and should not say that he has already performed the prayer.
