It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were in the mosque after the ‘Isha prayer when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us. He (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his gaze towards the sky and then lowered it, until we thought that some important event had occurred in the sky. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware! After me, there will come rulers who will lie and commit injustice. Whoever affirms their lies and helps them in their injustice, he has no connection with me and I have no connection with him. And whoever does not affirm their lies and does not agree with them in their injustice, he is mine and I am his. Beware! The blood of a Muslim is atonement, and these words are among the lasting righteous deeds: Subhan Allah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, and Allahu Akbar.
