Ibn Hujaira says: A man who heard from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me that he said: I spent a night conversing privately with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until morning. During our conversation, I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Appoint me as a leader over some region." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This leadership is a trust, and on the Day of Resurrection, it will be a cause of disgrace and regret, except for the one who takes it with its due right and fulfills the responsibilities that are imposed upon him regarding it."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There are very few and select individuals who have attained honor in the sight of Allah Ta'ala due to their governance; otherwise, the majority have not been able to fulfill the rights of this position because of their incompetence and lack of foresight.
Respected readers! You yourselves can assess that we are unable to fulfill the rights of five or ten members in our own households, and principals and administrators of institutions are unable to fulfill the rights of a hundred or two hundred children. Then what will be the case of one who accepts responsibility for millions of people, except whom Allah wills.
