It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever becomes a ruler over ten or more people, on the Day of Resurrection he will be brought before Allah Almighty in such a state that his hand will be tied to his neck; his good deeds will free him or his sins will destroy him. At the beginning of this authority is blame, in the middle is regret, and its end on the Day of Resurrection is disgrace.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In the present era, understanding this hadith has become easier. When a ruler assumes leadership, then among all his opponents and supporters, some individuals engage in reviling and slandering him. When that position is taken away from him, or he loses in an election, the regret, remorse, shame, and embarrassment he faces cannot be expressed in words. And due to not fulfilling the complete requirements of leadership, he will also face disgrace and failure in the Hereafter. However, the ruler who, along with upholding the rights of Allah Ta’ala, also fulfills the rights of his subjects, he will be a great and fortunate person.
