It is narrated from Sayyiduna Dhu Makhmar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: This (matter of caliphate and kingship) was with the tribe of Himyar, Allah Almighty took it from them and entrusted it to the Quraysh, soon this matter will return to them. Abdullah, the narrator, says: In my father's book, the last words were in a fragmented form, but when he narrated them to us, he recited them continuously (just as he recited the rest of the hadith).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The disjointed letters (ḥurūf muqaṭṭaʿāt) mentioned in the hadith (وَسَیَعُوْدُإِلَیْھِمْ) refer to "وَسَیَعُوْدُاِلَیْھِمْ" (and it will return to them).
The Himyar were Arabs settled in Yemen, as is evident from the aforementioned narrations. It is well-known that they are from Qahtan. Arta’ah ibn al-Mundhir, the Tabi‘i, said: The Qahtani people will emerge after Imam Mahdi and will adopt the conduct of Imam Mahdi. The meaning of the aforementioned hadith is explained in the following narration.
It is narrated from our master Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((The Hour will not be established until a man from Qahtan emerges who will drive the people with his staff (i.e., he will rule over them).)) (Sahih Bukhari: 3256, Sahih Muslim: 5182)
The Quraysh ruled for approximately the first six centuries, but ultimately, due to deviation from the religion, the Tatars destroyed their kingdom.
