Hadith 12

(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ) قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ: ((إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَنَامُ وَلَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُ أَنْ يَنَامَ، يَخْفِضُ الْقِسْطَ وَيَرْفَعُهُ، حِجَابُهُ النَّارُ، لَوْ كَشَفَهَا لَأَحْرَقَتْ سُبُحَاتُ وَجْهِهِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَدْرَكَهُ بَصَرُهُ)) ثُمَّ قَرَأَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ: {فَلَمَّا جَاءَهَا نُودِيَ أَنْ بُورِكَ مَنْ فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ}
(Second Chain) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Indeed, Allah does not sleep, and it does not befit Him that He should sleep. He lowers the scale and raises it. His veil is fire. If He were to remove that veil, the radiance and splendor of His Face would burn everything that His gaze reaches. Allah’s gaze encompasses all of creation. Therefore, the meaning is that if the veil were removed, all of creation would be burnt to ashes. Then Abu Ubaidah recited this verse: «إِذَا جَاءُوا فَنَادَىٰ مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ ۝ بَارَكَ الَّذِي فِي النَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» (An-Naml: 8) When he came to it, he was called: ‘Blessed is whoever is in the fire and whoever is around it, and glory be to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.’”
