It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Khalid bint Khalid bin Sa'id bin 'As (may Allah be pleased with her) that some clothes were brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), among which was a small woolen sheet. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Who do you consider most deserving of this sheet? The Companions remained silent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Bring Umm Khalid to me. So she was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he made her wear that cloth and said twice: Wear it out, wear it out (i.e., may you live long and use it for a long time). And he looked carefully at the red or yellow marks on that sheet and said: Umm Khalid! Very good, very good. The word "Sanaah" mentioned in the hadith is from the Abyssinian language, and in Arabic it means excellent, good, and best.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyidah Umm Khalid bint Khalid bin Sa‘id bin ‘As radi Allahu anha was a lady from the Umayyad family, and she is well-known by her kunyah (honorific title). Her actual name was Umah. She and her parents were honored with the companionship of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Sayyiduna Khalid bin Sa‘id radi Allahu anhu migrated from Makkah to Abyssinia, and his wife Hamina bint Khalaf was with him; it was there that their daughter Umah was born. She was married to Sayyiduna Zubair bin al-‘Awwam radi Allahu anhu. She lived a fairly long life; in fact, Imam Bukhari says that among women, none lived as long as she did.
