It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a gift was presented to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and among it was a necklace of Yemeni pearls. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will give this necklace to the one among my family who is most beloved to me." The women thought that this necklace would be taken by the daughter of Abu Quhafa, that is, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called his granddaughter, Sayyida Umamah bint Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), and placed the necklace around her neck.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The following context of this narration is authentic: It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha, she says: “Jewelry was brought to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam from the Negus as a gift, among which was a gold ring with an Abyssinian stone. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam took it with a stick, using some of his fingers, turning away from it, and then he called Ummamah bint Abi al-As, the daughter of his daughter, and said: ‘Adorn yourself with this, O my dear daughter.’” … Jewelry came to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam as a gift from the Negus, among which was a gold ring whose stone was Abyssinian. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, using a stick and some of his fingers, took it while turning away from it, and then called his granddaughter, Sayyidah Ummamah radi Allahu anha, and said: “Dear daughter! Wear this as an ornament.” (Abu Dawud: 4235, Musnad Ahmad: 24880)
Sayyidah Ummamah bint Zaynab radi Allahu anha was the granddaughter of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam loved her very much and would sometimes carry her while leading the prayer. After the passing of Sayyidah Fatimah radi Allahu anha, Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu married her, and after Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, Sayyiduna Mughirah ibn Nawfal married her. One opinion is that no children were born to Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu or Mughirah from her, and according to another opinion, Yahya, the son of Mughirah, was born from her. And Allah knows best.
