It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) married me, while he had nothing except a horse; he had no wealth, no slave, nothing at all. I used to feed his horse grass, fulfill its needs, and take it around for exercise. I used to crush and grind date stones for his camel, feed it grass, and bring water for it. If the water bucket broke, I would repair it. I would knead the dough, but I did not know how to bake bread well, so my Ansari neighbor women would bake bread for me; they were very good women. The land that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had granted to Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) was about two miles away. I used to carry the date stones on my head from there.

One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was coming with his companions and met me on the way. He called out to me and signaled his mount to stop so that I could ride behind him, but I felt shy to travel with men. At the same time, I remembered Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) and his sense of honor; he was the most honorable among men. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) realized that I was hesitant to ride with him, so he moved on. I went to Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him that I had date stones on my head, and on the way, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the noble companions met me. He intended to make me ride with him by stopping his mount, but I felt shy and I also know your sense of honor. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah! For me, your carrying the date stones is more unpleasant than your riding with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: This was my situation until Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sent a servant to me. Then, in matters related to the horse, this servant took over my responsibilities, and thus she came and as if set me free.
