It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu al-Yasar Ka'b bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), who says: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the latter part of the day at Khaybar when a flock of sheep belonging to a Jew came, which wanted to enter the fortress, and we were besieging those Jews. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Which young man will catch some of these sheep for us to eat? Abu al-Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I am present for this service. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Alright, proceed. Abu al-Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I immediately ran like an ostrich, and when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me going, he said: O Allah! Benefit us through him. I reached the sheep; the first part of the flock had already entered the fortress, but I managed to seize two sheep from the rear of the flock, and I held them under my arms and came running as if I was not carrying anything. The noble Companions slaughtered those sheep and ate them. Sayyiduna Abu al-Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) was the last of the Companions to pass away. When he would narrate this incident, he would weep and say: Benefit from me, by my life! At this time, I am the last living Companion. The compiler of this book, Ahmad Abdul Rahman Bana, says: By Allah! By coincidence and without intention, this hadith has come at the end of the virtues of the Companions. And the last words of this hadith are also, by coincidence, that at this time I am the last living Companion.
