It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who says: When I was coming to the service of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, I recited this verse on the way: "O night, how long and arduous you are! Indeed, it is a wonder that you have delivered me from the abode of disbelief." Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, says: On the way, one of my slaves ran away from me. I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, accepted Islam, and pledged allegiance to him. While I was sitting in his service, that slave also arrived. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "Abu Hurairah! This is your slave." I said: "He is for the sake of Allah Almighty's pleasure," and then he set him free.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu is a noble and eminent Companion. There are thirty different opinions regarding the determination of his and his father's names. According to the most preferred opinion, his name was Abdur Rahman bin Sakhr. In the era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), his name was Abd Shams. He had already embraced Islam earlier, but in the year of the Battle of Khaybar, he came to Madinah Munawwarah, and then, out of longing to meet the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he reached Khaybar to be with him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. After that, it was as if he clung to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, serving him, and whether it was night or day, travel or residence, in every possible circumstance, he did not separate from the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He exerted utmost effort and endured hardship to transmit, memorize, and then faithfully convey the actions and sayings of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam to the Ummah. He was among the Companions known as Ashab al-Suffah. The distinguishing characteristic of Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu was that he acquired, in a miraculous manner, an extraordinary memory from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and then took upon himself the responsibility of memorizing the ahadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Among the collections of hadith, the most narrations are reported from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu; the number of ahadith narrated from him is 5,374. This honor was not attained by any other Companion. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu lived for approximately eighty years and passed away in the year 57 Hijri.
