عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِرَجُلٍ هَلُمَّ فَلْنَجْعَلْ يَوْمَنَا هَذَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَوَاللَّهِ لَكَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَاهِدٌ هَذَا الْيَوْمَ فَخَطَبَ فَقَالَ ”وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ هَلُمَّ فَلْنَجْعَلْ يَوْمَنَا هَذَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ“ فَمَا زَالَ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى تَمَنَّيْتُ أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ سَاخَتْ بِي
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said to a man, "Come, let us dedicate this day of ours to Allah Almighty." By Allah, it felt as if on that day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was also present among us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed and said: "There are some people who say to others, 'Come, let us dedicate this day of ours to Allah Almighty.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement so many times that I wished the earth would swallow me up.

Benefits: … This narration is weak. From the wish of Sayyiduna Abu Musa radi Allahu anhu, it is evident that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not approve of his statement and action. It is possible that the reason for this is that every day of life should be spent with such moderation that Allah’s remembrance is observed, His commands are fulfilled, and worldly needs are also met.
