Hadith 11955

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) heard Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting (the Qur'an), so he said: "Abu Musa has indeed been given a melodious voice like that of the family of Dawud."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of "mazamir" is flutes, but what is meant here is the beauty and melodiousness of the voice. Allah Ta'ala granted Dawud alayhis salam an extremely beautiful and captivating voice. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu that Sayyiduna Dawud alayhis salam used to recite the Zabur in seventy different tones, and he would recite with such a melodious and captivating voice that even a person suffering from fever would begin to sway. When he would weep, every creature on land and sea would become silent and still, listening attentively to his recitation, and would begin to weep as well. A portion of this beauty of voice was also granted to Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari radi Allahu anhu.
