It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the funeral prayer of the son of Dahdah (may Allah be pleased with him) or Abu Dahdah. After that, a horse without a saddle was presented to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). A man tied its leg with a rope. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted it, and the horse began to prance. We were walking quickly behind him. One of the people said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How many clusters of dates in Paradise are hanging in wait for Abu Dahdah." In his narration, Hajjaj stated that a man sitting with us in the gathering narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How many clusters of dates in Paradise are hanging for Abu Dahdah."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... The son of Dahdah or the father of Dahdah—there is no contradiction between these two narrations, because it is possible that the name of this Companion’s father was also Dahdah and the son’s name was also Dahdah. The name of Sayyiduna Abu Dahdah radi Allahu anhu is Thabit bin Dahdah. In the Battle of Uhud, when the news spread that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had been martyred, the morale of the noble Companions fell and their courage failed. At that moment, Sayyiduna Abu Dahdah radi Allahu anhu said to the Ansar: “If Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has been martyred, so what? Allah is alive; death will never come to Him. Stand up and fight for the defense of the religion.” Thus, he took a few Muslims with him and advanced towards the disbelievers. Khalid bin Walid, who participated in this battle on the side of the disbelievers, martyred Sayyiduna Abu Dahdah by striking him with a spear. Some scholars have said that he was wounded by this spear strike, later recovered, and passed away after the return of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam from Hudaybiyyah. And Allah knows best.
