It is narrated from Abu Muneeb Ahadab that Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon in Syria and, mentioning the plague, said: The plague is a mercy from your Lord upon you, and a supplication of your Prophet, and for those before you, it was the cause of the death of the righteous. O Allah! Send down upon the family of Mu’adh their share from this mercy. After this, Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) descended from the pulpit and came to his son Abdur Rahman. Abdur Rahman said: (الْحَقُّمِنْرَبِّكَفَلاتَكُونَنَّمِنَالْمُمْتَرِينَ) .... The truth is from your Lord, so do not be among those who doubt. Hearing this, Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (سَتَجِدُنِيإِنْشَاءَاللَّهُمِنَالصَّابِرِينَ) .... Soon, if Allah wills, you will find me among the patient ones.

The mention of the supplication of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is in the following hadith:
Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((Allahumma aj‘al fana’a ummati fi sabilika bil-ta‘ni wal-ta‘oon.)) … O Allah! Cause the end of my Ummah to be in Your path, by the sword and by the plague. (Musnad Ahmad: 15693)
