Hadith 11852

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ ”ابْنُ سُمَيَّةَ مَا عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرَانِ قَطُّ إِلَّا اخْتَارَ الْأَرْشَدَ مِنْهُمَا“
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whenever two matters were presented before Ibn Sumayyah, he would choose the better of the two.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The mother of Sayyiduna Ammar radi Allahu anhu was Sayyidah Sumayyah radi Allahu anha. Abu Jahl, the accursed, inflicted such severe punishments upon her that she passed away. Sayyidah Sumayyah radi Allahu anha is the very first martyr (shahida) of Islam.
