Hadith 11850

وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ يُحَدِّثُ: أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَهْدَى إِلَى نَاسٍ هَدَايَا فَفَضَّلَ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: ”تَقْتُلُهُ الْفِئَةُ الْبَاغِيَةُ“
Amr bin Dinar narrates from a man of Egypt, who stated that Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) sent gifts to some people and sent more and valuable gifts to Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him). When he was asked about the reason for giving him such importance, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that a rebellious group will kill him.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … After the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Uthman radi Allahu anhu, the Muslim Ummah was divided into two groups: Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu and Sayyiduna Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu. Among these two groups, the caliphate of Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu was rightful, and the ijtihadi (independent juristic reasoning) matter of Sayyiduna Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu was based on rebellion and error. Sayyiduna Ammar radi Allahu anhu was with Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, and in the Battle of Siffin, he was martyred at the hands of the group of Sayyiduna Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu. In this way, the prophecy of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was fulfilled that he (Ammar) would be killed by the rebellious group.
