Hadith 11849

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: There was some dispute between me and Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him), and I said some harsh words to him. Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to complain about me to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After him, Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) also went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the complaint and began to say harsh things about him, and the intensity of his words kept increasing. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was silent, not saying anything. Seeing this, Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) began to weep and said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you not see what he is saying? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed head and said: Whoever harbors enmity against Ammar, Allah will harbor enmity against him, and whoever bears malice against Ammar, Allah will bear malice against him. Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When I returned from the presence of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the most important and beloved thing in my eyes was that Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) should be pleased with me, so I went and met him, and he became pleased with me. Abdullah bin Imam Ahmad says: I heard this hadith from my father twice.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir radi Allahu anhu was a Companion. He and his parents were among the earliest to embrace faith. This household had to face many hardships and sufferings for the "crime" of accepting Islam; at times, they were tortured in the presence of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. However, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself exercised patience and also instructed them to be patient. Sayyiduna Ammar radi Allahu anhu migrated to Madinah Munawwarah and participated in all the battles (ghazawat). In the Battle of Yamamah, he lost one of his ears. The Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhu, appointed him as the governor of Kufa. In the Battle of Siffin, he was with the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu, and at the age of sixty-three, in 37 AH, he was martyred in this very battle.
