It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) (or Sayyida Ruqayyah, may Allah be pleased with her), passed away, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed his daughter and said: Go and join our best predecessor, Uthman bin Maz'un.
It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) kissed his body. I saw that the tears of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) were flowing on the cheeks of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). One of the narrators of this hadith, Abdur Rahman, narrates that the Prophet's eyes were shedding tears.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In this chapter, the only authentic narration is that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr kissed the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam when he was deceased. The Imams are in agreement that it is permissible to kiss the deceased. Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'un radi Allahu anhu was an early companion who accepted Islam before the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam entered Dar al-Arqam. He performed two migrations: the first to Abyssinia and the second to Madinah Munawwarah. When he migrated to Madinah, his son Sayyiduna Sa'ib and his two brothers, Sayyiduna Qudamah and Sayyiduna Abdullah radi Allahu anhuma, were with him. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam established brotherhood between him and Abu Haytham bin Tayhan al-Ansari radi Allahu anhu. Sayyiduna Uthman radi Allahu anhu participated in the Battle of Badr and passed away two and a half years after the migration. He was the first among the Muhajirun (Emigrants) to pass away. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam led his funeral prayer and he was buried in Baqi'. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam placed a stone at the head of his grave as a marker so that he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam could recognize his grave.
He had also made wine forbidden upon himself during the pre-Islamic period of ignorance.
