Hadith 11834

It is narrated from Masruq, he says: We used to go to the service of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) and would sit with him and talk. One day we mentioned Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said: You have mentioned a man whom, since I heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I have loved him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You people should learn the Qur'an from four persons: Ibn Umm Abd, Mu'adh bin Jabal, Ubayy bin Ka'b, and the freed slave of Abu Hudhaifah, Salim. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned first the son of Umm Abd, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
