Hadith 11811

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The members of this household—Abdullah, Abu Abdullah, and Umm Abdullah—are all good people.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As al-Qurashi al-Sahmi radi Allahu anhu was an ascetic and devout Companion. His father was also a Companion. There was only an eleven or twelve year age difference between him and his father, which means that his father married at a very young age. His mother, Sayyida Rayta radi Allahu anha, also became Muslim.

Sayyiduna Abdullah radi Allahu anhu accepted Islam before his father. He was a person of vast knowledge, greatly devoted to worship, frequently reciting the Noble Qur’an, and among those who acquired the most hadith and knowledge from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.

He was present with his father during the conquest of Sham (Greater Syria), and in fact, during the Battle of Yarmuk, his father’s banner was with him. He passed away in Egypt at the age of seventy-two, in the year 65 AH, and was buried there.
