Hadith 11801

وَعَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رِبَاحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا خَتِينٌ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, I had already been circumcised.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Regarding the age of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu at the time of the passing of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, four opinions are found: ten years, thirteen years, fourteen years, and fifteen years. Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah, after mentioning all these opinions and their evidences, has given preference to the view that at that time Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu had completed thirteen years and was entering his fourteenth year. And Allah knows best.
