Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him), this Companion was among those individuals whom the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed as a Naqeeb (leader and overseer) over the people in Madinah Munawwarah during the first pledge of ‘Aqabah. It is narrated from him, he says: At the occasion of the first pledge of ‘Aqabah, we pledged allegiance at the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for fighting, that if we had to fight anyone for the defense of Islam and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we would not hold back from it. And Sayyiduna ‘Ubada (may Allah be pleased with him) was among those twelve Naqeebs who, at the first pledge of ‘Aqabah, pledged allegiance at the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to listen and obey him in agreeable and disagreeable circumstances, in pleasant and unpleasant conditions, that is, in every situation, and acknowledged that we would not contend with those in authority regarding government and power, and wherever we may be, we would speak the truth without fearing the blame of any blamer. Also, we pledged allegiance at the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the manner of the matters concerning women. (The mention of these matters is in Surah Al-Mumtahina).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By “women’s matters” are meant those matters which are mentioned in the following verse: { ٰٓیاَیُّھَاالنَّبِیُّاِذَاجَآئَکَالْمُؤْمِنٰتُیُبَایِعْنَکَعَلٰٓیاَنْلَّایُشْرِکْنَبِاللّٰہِشَیْئًاوَّلَایَسْرِقْنَوَلَایَزْنِیْنَوَلَایَقْتُلْنَاَوْلَادَھُنَّوَلَایَاْتِیْنَبِبُھْتَانٍیَّفْتَرِیْنَہٗبَیْنَاَیْدِیْھِنَّوَاَرْجُلِھِنَّوَلَایَعْصِیْنَکَفِیْ مَعْرُوْفٍ} (Surah Al-Mumtahanah: 12) That is: O Prophet! When believing women come to you to pledge allegiance to you on the condition that they will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit adultery, will not kill their children, will not bring forth a slander they have invented between their hands and feet, and will not disobey you in what is right, then accept their pledge. In this verse, women are mentioned, but men also used to pledge allegiance to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on these matters.
