It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zumrah bin Tha’labah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wearing two expensive and beautiful Yemeni garments. The Prophet said: “Zumrah! Do you think these two garments of yours will take you to Paradise?” Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Zumrah (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: “O Messenger of Allah! If you pray for my forgiveness, I will not sit down until I have taken them off.” So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed: “O Allah! Forgive Zumrah bin Tha’labah.” Then he quickly went and took off those garments.
