Fath al-Rabbani

It is narrated from Abu Qura Kindi that Salman Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) stated that I was from the lineage of the chiefs of Persia. Then he narrated the whole incident further: I set out from there, no land would give me a place upon itself and then would cast me forward somewhere else, until I passed by a group of Bedouins. They sold me as a slave, and eventually a woman bought me. I heard the people of that house mentioning the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). In those days, my livelihood was extremely constrained. I requested my mistress to grant me a day off; she granted me leave. So I went and gathered wood, sold it, and prepared food. I took that food and presented it to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I placed the food before him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is this? I replied: This is charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions: Eat this. And he himself did not partake of it. I said in my heart: One of your signs has been fulfilled. After that, as much time passed as Allah willed. Then I requested my mistress for a day’s leave; she granted me leave. So I went and gathered wood, sold it at a higher price than before, and with that money I prepared food. I took that food and presented it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He was sitting among a group of companions. I placed the food before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is this? I replied: This is a gift. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) extended his blessed hand towards the food and also said to the companions: Take the name of Allah and eat. I stood behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed his cloak and I saw the Seal of Prophethood. I involuntarily cried out that I bear witness that you are truly the Messenger of Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is the reason and cause for this statement of yours? I narrated the incident of that priest to him and asked: O Messenger of Allah! Will he enter Paradise? He had told me that you are the last Prophet of Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Only he will enter Paradise who is a Muslim. I again asked: O Messenger of Allah! He was the one who told me that you are the Prophet of Allah, so will he enter Paradise? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Only that person will enter Paradise who is a Muslim.
