The wife of Sayyiduna Rafi‘ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that on the day of Uhud or Khaybar, an arrow struck Sayyiduna Rafi‘ (may Allah be pleased with him) in the chest while he was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Please pull out this arrow. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Rafi‘! If you wish, I can pull out both the arrow and its head, but if you wish, I can pull out the arrow and leave its head inside, and I will bear witness for you on the Day of Resurrection that you were martyred in the way of Allah. He said: O Messenger of Allah! Then please pull out the arrow and leave its head inside, and bear witness for me on the Day of Resurrection that I was martyred in the way of Allah. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pulled out the arrow and left its head inside.
