It is narrated from ‘Ammarah bin Khuzaymah al-Ansari that his uncle, who was a Companion, related to him that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bought a horse from a Bedouin. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: Come with me and receive the price of the horse. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was swift in pace, while the Bedouin was slow, so the Bedouin lagged behind, and some people came to the Bedouin and began to bargain with him for the horse. They did not know that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had already finalized the deal for the horse with him. Until someone offered the Bedouin a higher price than what the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had agreed upon. The Bedouin called out to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): If you want to buy this horse, then buy it, otherwise I am selling it to someone else. When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the Bedouin’s voice, he stopped and said: Did I not already buy this horse from you? He said: By Allah, no, I have not sold it to you. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Why not, I have already bought it from you. People gathered around the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Bedouin, and they were talking among themselves, when the Bedouin said: If you are truthful, then present a witness who will testify that I sold this horse to you. At that moment, a Muslim stepped forward and said to the Bedouin: Woe to you, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) always speaks the truth, he does not lie. Then Sayyiduna Khuzaymah (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived and heard the conversation between the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the Bedouin. The Bedouin was saying: Present a witness who will testify that I sold this horse to you. Sayyiduna Khuzaymah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I testify that you have sold this horse to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to Sayyiduna Khuzaymah (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: On what basis are you giving this testimony? He said: O Messenger of Allah! On the basis of your truthfulness, for you always speak the truth. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) considered the testimony of Sayyiduna Khuzaymah (may Allah be pleased with him) alone as equal to that of two witnesses.
