It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Umayyah Damri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him alone to the Quraysh as a spy. He says: I came to the wood upon which Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) was hung. I was also afraid of the Quraysh lest they see me. I climbed up that wood and untied the rope of Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him), and he fell to the ground. When I turned my attention towards him, the body of Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) was not visible to me; it seemed as if the earth had swallowed him. Until now, no trace of his body has been seen.
