عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمُتَلَاعِنَيْنِ فَتَلَاعَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَأَنَا ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنْ أَمْسَكْتُهَا فَقَدْ كَذَبْتُ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ بِهِ لِلَّذِي يَكْرَهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the incident of Li’an that occurred in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The husband and wife had performed Li’an with each other, and at that time I was fifteen years old. The husband who performed Li’an said: O Messenger of Allah! If I now keep my wife with me, then it is as if I have falsely accused her. Then the woman who performed Li’an gave birth to a child with such features that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In one narration of Sahih Muslim, it is mentioned that Sayyiduna Sahl radi Allahu anhu relates that they performed li‘an in the mosque and I was present, and it was done after ‘Asr (afternoon prayer); all these issues have already been discussed previously.
