عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي مَحْمُودُ بْنُ لَبِيدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ عَقَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَقَلَ مَجَّةً مَجَّهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي لَفْظٍ فِي وَجْهِهِ مِنْ دَلْوٍ كَانَ فِي دَارِهِمْ
It is narrated from Zuhri, he says: Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Lubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that he visited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and (he understood this visit well, to the extent that) he even noticed that there was a bucket in his house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rinsed his mouth with it, and the water from the rinsing was sprinkled on his face.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Labeed radi Allahu anhu is presenting one of the evidences of his having seen (the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), since this was a great honor, therefore the noble Companions (Sahabah kiram) would examine it with great attention to detail and then narrate it.
