Hadith 11574

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَقْبَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فَقَالَ ”يَا عَلِيُّ هَذَانِ سَيِّدَا كُهُولِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَشَبَابِهَا عَدَا النَّبِيِّينَ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was in the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Ali! These two will be the leaders of the elders and youth of Paradise, except for the Prophets and Messengers.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: ... The singular of "kuhul" is "kahl," which refers to a person whose age is between thirty-three or thirty-four years up to fifty-one years; such a person is called "kahl." We have translated this word as "elder." In Paradise, everyone will be granted the same youthful age. The meaning of this hadith is that those individuals who pass away and enter Paradise during the age of maturity and youth, their leaders will be Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (radi Allahu anhuma).
