It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tariq bin Ashyam, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The killing of my Companions is itself sufficient.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of this hadith is that if a Companion (sahabi) commits an error and participates in fighting during the times of tribulation (fitan), and then is killed in that battle, his being killed will be an expiation (kaffarah) for him.

Imam al-Albani rahimahullah, mentioning a corroborating narration (shahid), said: It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa‘id ibn Zayd radi Allahu anhu that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “After me, soon there will be tribulations (fitan), and there will be much happening in them.” We said: “If we live to see that time, we will surely be destroyed!” He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “For my Companions, the tribulation of killing is sufficient.” And in another narration: “In those tribulations, people will perish rapidly.” (Tabarani, Bazzar) (Sahihah: 1346)
