Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept his sword Zulfiqar as a gift (or from the spoils of war) on the day of the Battle of Badr. This is the same sword about which you saw a dream on the day of Uhud, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw a notch in my sword Zulfiqar; its interpretation is that you will face defeat. I saw that I had mounted a ram behind me; I interpreted this as the brave one of the army will be martyred. I saw that I was wearing a secure coat of mail; I interpreted this as Madinah will remain protected. I saw that a cow was being slaughtered; by Allah, this is better. Whatever the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, that is exactly what happened.
