It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother, Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her), sent him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a plate or an open container of dates. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to send handfuls of dates to his wives. After that, the remaining dates were eaten by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in such a manner that it was clearly apparent that he was in need of food.
