Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has also mentioned the following corroborating narration (shahid) for this hadith: Qais bin Zaid says: The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam divorced Sayyidah Hafsah bint Umar radi Allahu anha. Her two maternal uncles, Qudamah and Uthman, who were the sons of Maz'oon, went to her. She began to weep and said: By Allah! The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not divorce me because he was satiated (i.e., bored) with me. The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam came to her and said: ((Jibril alayhis salam said to me: Take Hafsah back, for she is one who fasts much and stands in prayer much, and she is your wife in Paradise.)) … Abu Nu'aym has narrated this in al-Hilyah: 2/50 and Imam Hakim has also narrated it, and it is mursal.

This hadith indicates that it is permissible for a man to divorce his wife, even if she is one who fasts much and stands in prayer much. Sometimes it happens that a husband and wife are not able to become close and harmonious with each other, and the wife is not able to fulfill all the requirements of obedience to her husband, resulting in divorce. And at times, there are certain internal matters that become the cause of divorce, which other people cannot be aware of. Due to these reasons, making divorce dependent on the agreement or disagreement of a judge is the greatest foolishness and a very bad thing of this time. On the tongues of most rulers, judges, and preachers, this hadith is commonly recited: ((The most hated of permissible things to Allah is divorce.)) … Among the permissible things, divorce is the most disliked by Allah. Whereas this is weak; I have clarified this in (Irwa’ al-Ghalil: 2040) and elsewhere.
