Lamis narrates, she says: I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) whether a woman can apply oil to make her face clearer in order to gain her husband's affection. She replied: Keep it away from yourself, Allah Almighty does not look towards the woman who applies it. Another woman said to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): O mother! Sayyida replied: I am not your mother, I am your sister. Then Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray and sleep during the first twenty days (of Ramadan), but when the last ten days began, he would tighten his waistcloth and devote himself to worship.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In dignity, respect, honor, and the prohibition of marriage, the wives of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam are like mothers. Since the ruling of marriage pertains to men, this is why Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha presents herself as a sister to women. This narration is weak; nevertheless, the ruling regarding the Mothers of the Believers is not due to lineage.

It is permissible for a woman to apply oil, cream, powder, etc. to her face, which increases her adornment. However, if any of these contain chemicals that also remove facial hair, then that would be impermissible. Other issues of this type have already been discussed previously.

Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha was extremely intelligent and wise. Along with being a scholar of poetry and history, she was also well-versed in medical knowledge. When various delegations would come and mention different medicines and prescriptions before the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Sayyidah radi Allahu anha would render services in his treatment and care.
