Hadith 11407

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me in the month of Shawwal and I was sent to his house in the same month of Shawwal. So which of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was more esteemed in his eyes than me? Thus, Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) used to prefer marrying the women of her family in the month of Shawwal.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Among the Arabs, the month of Shawwal was considered inauspicious, and therefore they would avoid performing marriages and similar events during the month of Shawwal. Islam has rejected such superstition and pessimistic thinking. In this context, Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha said that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam married her in this very month and her departure (rukhsati) also took place in this month, while in the sight of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha held great status.
