It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tamim Dari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! If a person from the People of the Book or from the disbelievers accepts Islam at the hand of a Muslim, then what will be the Sunnah regarding him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He will be the most entitled to him in his life and in his death."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Using this hadith as evidence, Imam Abdullah bin Mubarak said: In the absence of all other heirs, such a person will become the heir. And Imam Thawri said: He will become the heir and he is more deserving than others (strangers who are not heirs). (Musannaf ‘Abd al-Razzaq)
In the narration of Sa‘id bin Mansur, there is the addition: "he will inherit from him and pay blood money on his behalf (yarithuhu wa ya‘qilu ‘anhu)", but in its chain of narration, Ahwas bin Hakim is a narrator who has weak memory, about whom Imam al-Albani said: "He is used for corroboration." (Sahihah: 2316)
Imam Mubarakpuri said: There are two possibilities: (1) This hadith indicates inheritance by virtue of Islam (tawaruth bil-Islam), which has been abrogated. (2) The meaning of this hadith is that he helps him during his life and performs his funeral prayer after his death. (Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi: 3/185)
Imam Khattabi said: It is possible that this hadith is related to inheritance, and it is also possible that the implication of this hadith is about covenant and pledge, altruism and sacrifice, and kindness and maintaining ties. (Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi: 3/185, ‘Awn al-Ma‘bud: 3/87)
However, from the hadith of Sayyiduna Tamim, it is known that this hadith is not related to the beginning of Islam, but to the later period of Islam, because Sayyiduna Tamim radi Allahu anhu accepted Islam in 9 AH, and he himself asked about this hadith. Therefore, it is more appropriate that what is meant here is the right of inheritance. As for the matter of support, assistance, and participation in the funeral prayer, all Muslims are equal in fulfilling these rights. (And Allah knows best)
