عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ لَمَّا بَعَثَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ فِي فِدَاءِ أَسْرَاهُمْ بَعَثَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي فِدَاءِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ بِمَالٍ وَبَعَثَتْ فِيهِ بِقِلَادَةٍ لَهَا كَانَتْ لِخَدِيجَةَ أَدْخَلَتْهَا بِهَا عَلَى أَبِي الْعَاصِ حِينَ بَنَى عَلَيْهَا قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا رَآهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَقَّ لَهَا رِقَّةً شَدِيدَةً وَقَالَ ”إِنْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنْ تُطْلِقُوا لَهَا أَسِيرَهَا وَتَرُدُّوا عَلَيْهَا الَّذِي لَهَا فَافْعَلُوا“ فَقَالُوا نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَأَطْلَقُوهُ وَرَدُّوا عَلَيْهَا الَّذِي لَهَا
It is narrated from the wife of the Messenger, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that when the people of Makkah sent wealth and other things to ransom their captives, Sayyida Zainab, daughter of the Messenger (may Allah be pleased with her), sent wealth as ransom for her husband Abu al-As bin Rabi', and among it she also sent her necklace. This necklace actually belonged to Sayyida Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her); when Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) was married to Abu al-As, Sayyida Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) had given it to her. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that necklace, he was overcome with emotion and said: If you people consider it appropriate, then free my daughter's captive just like that and return her necklace to her. The noble Companions said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! So they released Abu al-As and returned the necklace to Sayyida Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her).
