It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhrama (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying on the pulpit: Banu Hashim bin Mughira have sought my permission to marry their daughter to Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), but I do not give them this permission. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said: I do not give them this permission. My daughter is a part of my flesh; whatever distresses her, distresses me as well, and whatever hurts her, hurts me too.
