It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was a camel belonging to a family of the Ansar, upon which they used to load water and irrigate their crops. The camel became unruly and refused to carry any load on its back. They came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! We had a camel upon which we used to bring water to irrigate our crops, but now it has become stubborn and rebellious and does not allow any load to be placed on its back. Our fields and date trees are drying up. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions: Stand up. They stood up, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the garden. The camel was in a corner of the garden. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) walked towards it. The Ansar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Prophet of Allah! It has become mad like a rabid dog. We fear that it might attack you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have no fear from it. When the camel saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), it rushed towards him and prostrated before him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of the hair on its forehead, and it became extremely obedient and submissive, to the extent that he (peace and blessings be upon him) put it to work. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: O Messenger of Allah! This senseless animal prostrates before you, while we are intelligent and have more right to prostrate to you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not permissible to prostrate before any human being. If it were permissible for a human to prostrate before another human, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband, because the husband has many rights over her. By the One in Whose hand is my soul! If the husband were covered from head to toe with sores, and blood and pus were oozing from them, and the wife came and licked them clean, even then she would not have fulfilled the right of her husband.
