بَابُ حَنِيْنِ الْجِذْعِ لِفِرَاقِهِ ﷺChapter on the Moaning of the Trunk at His ﷺ Separation
Hadith 11285

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَلَمَّا اتَّخَذَ الْمِنْبَرَ وَتَحَوَّلَ إِلَيْهِ حَنَّ عَلَيْهِ فَأَتَاهُ فَاحْتَضَنَهُ فَسَكَنَ قَالَ ”وَلَوْ لَمْ أَحْتَضِنْهُ لَحَنَّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that before the pulpit was prepared, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stand near a pillar and deliver the sermon. When the pulpit was prepared and he (peace and blessings be upon him) moved there, that trunk began to weep. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came near it and embraced it to his chest, and it became silent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I had not embraced it to my chest, it would have continued to weep until the Day of Resurrection.

Benefits: … This branch was affected by the mention of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam; when it found this mention to be absent, it began to weep. Allah Ta'ala, His signs, and everything in the universe has awareness regarding His mention.
