(Second chain of narration) The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to deliver sermons standing beside a date-palm trunk. An Ansari woman, whose slave was a carpenter, said to him: O Messenger of Allah! I have a slave who is a carpenter; should I have him make a pulpit for you to deliver sermons from? The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Yes, why not. Sayyiduna Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, says: When, on the day of Jumu’ah, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stood on the pulpit to deliver the sermon, the trunk beside which he used to stand began to weep like a child. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: It wept because it was deprived of the blessing of the remembrance of Allah that used to take place near it.
