(Second chain of narration) In this it is stated that the companions prepared a pulpit with three steps for you. When the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stood up to deliver the sermon as usual, that trunk began to weep at being separated from you. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to it: Be silent. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to the companions: This trunk has wept at my separation. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to it: Be silent. If you wish, I will plant you in Paradise so that the righteous may eat your fruit, and if you wish, I will restore you to freshness as before. So it preferred the Hereafter over the world. When the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away, that trunk was handed over to Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him. It remained with him until it was eaten away by termites.
